"A wary crow is 'on the alert' as it cautiously searches for food on the soft golden sand at the edge of the sea."

Artist comment:  "This is a multi-media rendering with pastel over gouache. I have long been fascinated by these clever corvids and have painted numerous versions of the 'common' crow. Here I chose to paint a non-objective background loosely resembling a beach and sky. This was a carefully chosen ploy to emphasize the 'blackness' of the bird. The crow is always 'on the alert' for food as well as to avoid any enemies."

"On The Alert" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original pastel painting by Carol Thompson.  The edition includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs).  Release date is January 2011.  Image size and substrates vary.  All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.
