Artist comment: "Magpies are common in eastern Washington, so when I visit my son and his family, I go prepared with camera and sketch pad. I was rewarded by the advent of this magnificent magpie in their back yard. At home in my studio, I relived that moment when I painted this gouache rendition of the bird."
