Artist comment: "I am very fond of the blue jay. It is bold and raucous, but in my opinion, does not deserve its bad reputation. I have observed the tender mating rituals, and generous care and feeding of its young. I chose to paint this one in life size plus, to exaggerate the commanding presence of a 'flash of blue' among the trees."
