| "Winter Coast"
"Tourists are few; seagulls are sheltered
in quiet seclusion; and winds pick up to toss rolling waves relentlessly
against dark and massive rocks. But the 'winter coast' is an awesome
rewarding experience for brave adventurers who make the trek to the sea."
ARTIST COMMENT This medium sized square shaped canvas is one of my favorites. It was very easy to paint, and I felt very good during the whole process. The mood is cheerful, and the setting a place that I have returned to again and again; the Oregon coast at Yaquina Head. Here the waves roll in and "bounce" around, creating numerous secondary waves, and lots of foam on the water's surface. On the rocks, sea lions bark, and seagulls whirl overhead. The shore is covered with round polished basalt rocks, that rattle noisily with each wave washing in. At high tide, as this oil painting portrays, the sea tosses restlessly around rocks in its forever surge toward the beach. To learn more about the artist "painting the sea", please click here.
