"Tourists are few;  seagulls are sheltered in quiet seclusion;  and winds pick up to toss rolling waves relentlessly against dark and massive rocks.  But the 'winter coast' is an awesome rewarding experience for brave adventurers who make the trek to the sea."

 

Artist comment:  "This  medium sized square shaped canvas is one of my favorites.  It was very easy to paint, and I felt very good during the whole process.  The mood is cheerful, and the setting a place that I have returned to again and again;  the Oregon coast at Yaquina Head.  Here the waves roll in and "bounce" around, creating numerous secondary waves, and lots of foam on the water's surface.  On the rocks, sea lions bark,  and seagulls whirl overhead.  The shore is covered with round polished basalt rocks, that rattle noisily with each wave washing in.  At high tide, as this oil painting portrays, the sea tosses restlessly around rocks in its forever surge toward the beach."

"Winter Coast" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original oil painting by Carol Thompson.  The edition includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs).  Release date is April 1999.  Image size and substrates vary.  All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.

This substrate is "Epson PremierArt Water Resistant Giclee Canvas", using Epson Ultrachrome K3 archival inks.
