| "Thundering Breaker"
"The sun breaks through a stormy sky; as
a powerful Pacific breaker rises high on the surface of the sea. Light
illuminates the thin upper edge of the wave and glitters along the top.
In your mind you hear the thundering roar as the wave breaks into a tumult
of ripples and floating foam."
ARTIST COMMENT Doesn"t that title bring you right there to the edge of the sea on a wonderfully windy day, when the sun just begins to peek out from behind disappearing rain clouds? Rays of light from the sky seem to spotlight the wave just as it crests and the translucency lights up as if from within. In the next moment the wave will have crashed into tumbling roaring foam. I wanted to convey that magical instant when time stands still and all of nature seems to be holding its breathe at the magnificence of the scene. The painting was done in oil on stretched canvas and rendered entirely with bristle brushes to portray the intense power of the sea in action.
