| "Sunset Splash"
"The day at the coast has been enjoyable and you linger to watch the final glow of the sunset light up the sky and sea. As the sun sinks behind the horizon, a rolling breaker slams into an offshore rock creating a final 'Sunset Splash'."
ARTIST COMMENT I have painted this scene before. (Winter High Tide) I never tire of returning to the location on the Oregon coast near Yaquina Head to watch the waves and wait for the sunset. In March, and again in October, the sunsets are vivid and numerous, as the days are usually sunny and bright and cloudless. In this scene, which I painted with oil on stretched canvas, the long breaking wave crashes onto the rock and splashes in a burst of pink-tinged deep blue. All the sky is lit up in shades of red. It is going to be another good day again tomorrow. To learn more about the artist "painting the sea", please click here.
