"The late afternoon sky lights up with a vibrant 'sun blast' of color at the end of the day."

Artist comment:  "This painting is nearly the rainbow except for the greens.  I have seen some brilliant sunsets on the Pacific Northwest coast.  Here I have reproduced, from my memory, the intensity of color as the last rays of the sun lights up a rising wave.  I painted this oil as a companion piece to 'Last Blast (of color)'.  I was very excited to be continuing the 'red' theme in a different size and shaped canvas.  I began with a sketch of wave and rock, then painted the blues, reds, and dark browns.  I then articulated the purple foam patterns and the runoff on the rocks.  I saved the bright yellows for last and highlighted the splashes with pure white.  Three 'm' birds were the final touch."

"Sun Blast (of color)" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original oil painting by Carol Thompson.  The edition includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs).  Release date is October 2011.  Image size and substrates vary.  All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.
