"Offshore Rocks"

"As strong as forever, as fleeting as today, offshore rocks put up a brave resistance to the powerful pounding of the mighty Pacific
Ocean. Even as gentle eddies run off the hard surface of volcanic deposits, forceful waves smash repeatedly, wearing even the most solid stone into tiny grains of sand."

ARTIST COMMENT
Sometimes the intensity of a summer day on the Pacific Northwest coast is so unbelievably vivid, as to be nearly ficticious.  However, I have seen it and can bear witness to the reality of the scene such as I have portrayed in this medium sized oil on stretched canvas.  Whether it is the Oregon, Washington or California coastline, the blues are intense, the dark greens almost smotheringly deep.  The dazzling whiteness of the high splash against the column of rocks can be almost blinding.  The sky is filled with fast moving cloud formations, and shadows on the left hand side indicate that soon a cloud will cover the sun and the scene will be transformed into a more subdued image.
