"Though rolling breakers and raucous gulls belie the coming calm; all the world at the edge of the ocean is settling in for a quiet peasceful night. Soon the sun will set and gulls will find a place on the peaks of an offshore rock, a routine of every 'late day'."
ARTIST COMMENT
Another in my series of ocean sunsets, this small oil on stretched canvas, is a different view of the water. You know the sun is setting by the angle of the light. The low, quickly dispersing clouds are catching the last rays of the sun, yet there is still enough sunlight to shine through the lifting tops of the rolling breakers and glow on the headland and rugged offshore rocks. The painting was done with brush and palette knife in true colors that occur at this moment in time, on the Pacific Northwest Coast of Oregon., U.S.A.
