Rising waves catch the amber glow of the late afternoon sun. Because water is opaque, and by its nature reflective, the colors of the sunlight and the brilliant sky are repeated in the tops of the thinning breakers that are in a direct line with the sun. This creates the illusion of the translucent waves being lit from within. |
