"The lighthouse at Tillamook Rock has a
rich and interesting history worth researching. Situated about a
mile off shore at Cannon Beach, Oregon, U.S.A., 'Tilly' (as she is affectionately
referred to) is now in private ownership and beautifully cared for in her
well-earned 'retirement'."
ARTIST COMMENT The lighthouse on Tillamook Rock is a recurring theme in my watercolors of the Cannon Beach, Oregon location. My research from Indian Beach at the base of Ecola Park, resulted in this view of the lighthouse. With binoculars, I was able to get quite a good look at the rock situated about a mile offshore. Using documented photos from historical archives, I supplemented my research with the best possible detail available. The ocean waves and colors are from my memory of that day.
