of Haystack Rock can be seen from along the highway south of Cannon Beach,
Oregon. Here the mighty monolith can be seen framed by wind-sculpted
evergreen trees on a misty summer day."
ARTIST COMMENT From highway 101 on the Oregon coast at Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock looms large and dominates the scene. On a misty summer day, I stopped at a view point south of the city, and researched the rock and far-away hills. Trees framed the the picturesque seastack. In this watercolor painting on 140# Arches watercolor paper, I focused on the mood of the day. It was misty, warm and quiet.
