| "Cannon Beach Stroll"
"It is morning at Cannon Beach, Oregon, U.S.A. As fog lingers over the ocean, Haystack Rock looms large, as the tide slips out. It is a peaceful time for a stroll along the waters edge, before the beginning of a busy day."
ARTIST COMMENT The Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, Oregon, is so very large, that people strolling along the seashore, seem to be miniatures from a doll house. The only thing that can tame the huge monolith is the immensity of the cloud filled sky. My technique is to employ warm against cool for drama, as I did with the color of the brown rock against the cold blue sky. For balance I made the reflection of the rock weave across the water and wet sand in the foreground. This scene is one I return to again and again.
