"The storm clouds are parting and a 'ray of light' spotlights a rising swell out on the ocean."

Artist comment:  "On the Oregon coast, I had been photographing the sea in sunshine and under cloudy skies. As I was returning to the car, I turned to take one last look. The wave rose up, the sun broke through the clouds and shone through the cresting wave. I focused my camera and watched for it to happen again. It never did. It was, however, locked in my mind, so later in my studio I reproduced in oil on linen canvas that moment in time when a 'ray of light' highlighted a translucent wave."
