Artist comment:  "A 'ring-billed gull' is a medium-sized gull that ranges from Canada to Cuba and passes through Washington in early to mid-winter. It is so-called because of the black markings on its bill that resemble a ring. I have a passion for seagulls and enjoy painting the many different types wherever I find them.  The idea of a rainbow colored background seemed an intriguing concept to offset the soft greys of this gull."
