"As the sun rises, illuminating the sea, a pair of brown pelicans passes by on their ‘first flight’ of the day."
Artist comment: "Observing pelicans is a fascinating pastime. On the Washington Coast at Seaview, I saw a group of them coming in to land on the beach near the surf to preen and rest. Apparently they had finished feeding and settled on a protected sand bar to rest and digest their breakfast. I chose pastel to paint this pair on Canson Mi-Teintes paper. I sketched the birds, then filled in the background sea and sky, concentrating on the colors of the morning light. Finally I detailed the pelicans with careful attention to detail.” |

"First Flight" is a limited edition, giclée
print from an original pastel painting by Carol Thompson. The edition
includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered
and 100 artist proofs). Release date is September 2010. Image size and substrates
vary.
All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity. Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.
Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray. |
