"In the early light of morning, a Great Blue Heron successfully pierces a large fish to have it’s ‘big breakfast’."

Artist comment:  "Blue Heron’s are one of my favorite subjects to paint. Here I was fortunate to capture on film (and thus to paint) such a rare occasion as one catching a big perch in the quiet morning light. Pastel seemed to lend itself to the soft hues of the heron, as well as the rich darks of the reflected embankment and piling. I wanted to emphasize the contrasts of the light/dark and warm/cool. The subtle triangle shapes make an interesting counterpoint to the curvy lines of the heron."

"Big Breakfast" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original pastel painting by Carol Thompson.  The edition includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered and 100 artist proofs).  Release date is August 2010.  Image size and substrates vary.   All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.
