"Still standing at it's originally authorized location, this squat, sturdy lighthouse has faithfully guided ships since 1890. The beautiful first order Fresnel lens is one of only two eight sided lights in America. Now a tourist attraction, this diminutive lighthouse and its magnificent lens can be seen at Cape Meares park, 10 miles West of Tillamook, Oregon." |
Artist comment:
"I like this little lighthouse! On a trip to Tillamook, Oregon, my husband and I took the time to drive to the lighthouse. We were unable to go inside at that time, but I photographed and made color notes for a future oil painting. On a medium sized canvas, I sketched the composition. I decided to render the scene as on a bright overcast day, so I could use cool greys with a hint of sunshine. I had fun with the lens and when I painted the 'cap', I made it look shiny and wet (the icing on the cake!)."

"Cape Meares Lighthouse" is a limited edition, giclée
print from an original oil painting by Carol Thompson. The edition
includes 2050 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (2000 numbered
and 50 artist proofs). Originally the edition was released as photolithographs in March 1992 on 80 pound Curtis Brightwater Cover paper (neutral ph)
and discontinued in September 2009. The remainder of the edition was released in April 2011 as archival giclee prints in a variety of image sizes and substrates. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity. Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board. Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray. .
