Completed in 1874, the spiral striped St. Augustine lighthouse was Florida's first official lighthouse." |
Artist comment:
"My husband and I visited friends in Florida, where we made a point to visit as many of it's lighthouses as we could. St. Augustine was a fascinating lighthouse with its wide black and white stripes spiraling around the tower. Capped by red and set in a lush forested park, it was a natural for oil on linen. At my home in Olympia, Washington, I painted the lighthouse and recalled the grand time I had spent there. I sketched the lighthouse carefully and indicated where the trees and hedge would be. I used oil on canvas starting with the sky, then the trees. The lighthouse was done last (sort of the icing on the cake). The lens was fun to capture the look of prismatic glass."

includes 3600 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (3500 numbered
and 100 artist proofs). Release date is November 1998. Image size and substrates
vary. All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity. Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board. Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.
