"Built in 1904 for the St. Louis World's Fair, this unusual light was purchased by the government and shipped to Hillsboro Inlet near Pompano Beach, Florida.  It has weathered many severe hurricanes due to it's sturdy skeletal construction.  A curtain was installed on the landward side after it was discovered that the sunlight concentrated through its powerful lens was starting brush fires on the ground."

 
Artist comment:  "I enjoy seeing my subjects in person, so on a trip to Florida my husband and I made it a point to visit the lighthouse at Hillsboro Inlet.  The weather was (of course) warm and sunny.  I chose a spot quite some distance from the site so as to photograph it without distortion.  In my home studio later, I used oil on linen canvas to depict this unusual lighthouse."

"Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse" is a limited edition, giclée print from an original oil painting by Carol Thompson.  The edition includes 2050 authorized, signed, limited edition prints (2000 numbered and 50 artist proofs).  Originally the edition was released as photolithographs in March 1992 on 80 pound Curtis Brightwater Cover paper (neutral ph) and discontinued in September 2009.  The remainder of the edition was released in March 2011 as archival giclee prints in a variety of image sizes and substrates.  All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.

"Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse"  is an “Art Cards, editions and originals (ACEO)” triptych giclée print from an original oil painting by Carol Thompson.   Image sizes are 3 1/2” X 2 1/2” (standard size for an ACEO).   Release date is March 2011. This substrate is "Epson PremierArt Water Resistant Giclee Canvas", using Epson Ultrachrome K3 archival inks.  The canvas has been coated with PremierArt™ print shield, which seals and protects the artwork from moisture, UV light fade, humidity, atmospheric contaminants, abrasion, and fingerprints.  This ACEO triptych is signed by the artist, includes signed certificates of authenticity, and are packaged in plastic sleeves for protection.
