| "Hillsboro Inlet
Lighthouse"
"Built in 1904 for the St. Louis World's
Fair, this unusual light was purchased by the government and shipped to
Hillsboro Inlet near Pompano Beach, Florida. It has weathered many severe
hurricanes due to it's sturdy skeletal construction. A curtain was installed
on the landward side after it was discovered that the sunlight concentrated
through its powerful lens, was starting brush fires on the ground."
