ARTIST COMMENT
"The TRLBY kite has become the most popular kite in the two-line, maneuverable stunt kite category. My husband and I fly stacks of them (up to twenty in a row). Recently, I was asked to paint a poster depicting these favorite kites. I chose the Washington coast for the setting, with the ocean as the background. On a beautiful day, with a brisk breeze lofting the kites, I photographed the three warm toned kites as they rose and dove at the hands of a skilled kite flyer. The cool sea was my backdrop. In my studio, I chose the best composition, sketched the kites on primed stretched linen canvas, proceeded to paint with oil, and in a short while had the poster ready."
