"TRLBY's At Sea" by Carol Thompson
"Standing on the jagged rocks of a jetty, kite flyer David Thompson dips and dives his TRLBY's amongst the waves. This is a daring escapade with potential drastic consequences; all worthwhile when the moment of rising breaker and flashing color become this kite flyer's perfect dream."
Artist comment: "Many happy days have been etched into my memory at Westport, Washington, where my husband, Ed, son David, and I took turns flying our rainbow colored stack of TRLBY kites. If one mistake is made there is a risk of losing all the kites in the sea, or at the very least, saturating them in seawater and waiting for them to dry out before flying again. I painted this oil on canvas after a wonderful day with kites and camera. I used a long, narrow canvas to take full advantage of the composition." |
