"Octopus"

"A Peter Lynn/Mark Somerville creation, this 'almost scary' octopus pretends to threaten Honolulu.  Light winds lifted this creation just enough to hover above the tree tops and glare down on the delighted audience."

ARTIST COMMENTS
“Kite flying is a fascinating chapter in my life.  I have been a member of a kite club in Washington State.  This afforded me opportunities for travel to kite conventions around the country and to Hawaii where I recorded this scene of the Australian made kite hovering menacingly over Honolulu.  Later in my studio, I painted the scene in oil on stretched linen canvas.  The composition was a natural, so I painted the scene just as I had photographed it."
