"Daffodils"

"As far as the eye can see, a natural setting has been filled with yellow gold, bursting through the ground in an eager anticipation of Spring Daffodils!  The very sight of it makes one happy with the longing for warm winds and blue skies!"

ARTIST COMMENT
For me the most eagerly anticipated blossoms of Spring are the daffodils.  Winter is just barely started when their leaves poke out of the ground, soon followed by the golden glow of the flowers.  This scene painted in watercolor on 140# Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper, is of a natural setting with daffodils popping up randomly throughout the wooded landscape.  To contrast the warm tones of the yellow and orange, I toned the leaves bue-green and greyed the muted browns in the background.  The composition is designed so your eye can "dance" through the picture, as a joyful ode to Spring.

Carol Thompson's personal garden is the subject of this series of watercolor paintings entitled "Carol's Garden". These florals are inspired by the many hours of pleasure received from working the rich soil, nurturing the seedlings, and admiring the fragrant blossoms. Her garden is her getaway, a place to clear her mind; to daydream, a place to get in touch with nature, and a place to think, plan, and just relax.
