"The cornflower is also known as bachelor buttons.  They grow prolifically in home gardens or wide stretches of field and meadow.  In pink, white, fuscia, and shades of blue, who wouldn't want such fancy buttons?"

 
Artist comment:  "On 140# hot-pressed watercolor paper, I painted a dark background, leaving white paper where I had sketched the flowers and leaves.  I lightly painted in the leaves and greens of the buds.  When it was dry, I layered a variety of blue values to shape the bachelor's buttons.  I finished it by 'picking' out white highlights with a sharp tip of a razor blade."

All prints are signed and numbered by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.   Paper prints are shrink wrapped on foam board.   Canvas prints are coated with a protective spray.

"Blue Bachelor Buttons" ACEO

"Blue Bachelor Buttons" is an “Art Cards, editions and originals (ACEO)” giclée print from an original watercolor painting by Carol Thompson. Image size is 3 1/2” X 2 1/2” (standard size for an ACEO). Release date is September 2002. This substrate is "Epson PremierArt Water Resistant Giclee Canvas", using Epson Ultrachrome K3 archival inks. The canvas has been coated with PremierArt™ print shield, which seals and protects the artwork from moisture, UV light fade, humidity, atmospheric contaminants, abrasion, and fingerprints.  This ACEO is signed by the artist, includes a signed certificate of authenticity, and is packaged in a plastic sleeve for protection.
