"Little Rooster"

"This lovely 'little rooster' has feathers so soft and shiny, they look silky. He is definitely the pride of his grassy domain as he struts his stuff."

ARTIST COMMENT On the farm he is the boss! His feathers are full and luxurious, and though he looks like he is strutting around in his pajamas, ounce for ounce, he is a fighter. His crowing is intended to intimidate his rivals, even if his size cannot. For this painting, I used a variety of colors to render the subject with delicate hues to show shadows and sunlight, while keeping the impression of an all white bird. The bright yellow green is a compliment to the cool shadows of the little rooster. The substrate is 80# bright white card-weight paper, 100% acid free. The smooth texture of the paper allowed me the freedom to paint the details in a realistic manner.
