"As the warm summer sun pokes through the
barn doors, 'a pair o' piglets' prepares to settle down for an afternoon
nap. One more twist of the tail and its siesta!"
This small painting of juvenile pigs is painted on dark toned Canson Mi Tientes. It was begun as an 'artist-in-action' piece at a local art show. There is a series of photographs that show the painting in progress. (See the photographs on my website ). It was especially satisfying to paint these animals as they basked in the summer sunshine pouring through a window . The ambient light was warm, even in the shadowed areas. The two piglets just seemed to glow. Their pink underbellies picked up a reflected light and exemplified the overall feeling of intimacy that I remembered. As often as I see this framed piece, I still get a kick from looking at it.
