"You know the job will get done when the ‘Daniel Foss’ tug comes to push”

Artist comment:  "Astoria, Oregon is the site of much tugboat activity on the Columbia River, as portrayed here in my pastel painting on Canson Mi-Teintes paper. As I observed one sunny day, the towing vessel ‘Daniel Foss’ was assisting the Sause Bros tug ‘Chinook’, manipulating a heavily laden barge under the Astoria-Megler bridge toward the sea. After careful reasearch and photography, I painted her later in my studio. The title is a play on words from an old adage, ‘when push comes to shove’.”
