"Deep Harbor"

"Between densely forested hills in a quiet cove, the morning sun sets a boat aglow.  This 'deep harbor' is a picture perfect setting."

ARTISTS COMMENTS
"I like to paint boats.  I love the way the round and curvy lines are contrasted by the sharp angles of masts and lines.  'Deep Harbor' is also a painting of the variance between light and dark values.  Textured Canson Mi-Tientes paper accorded me the opportunity to easily depict the drying nets, the chain link fencing, even minute ripples on the surface of the water, with merely a broad stroke of the side of a pastel stick.  The overall mood of the scene can be interpreted as 'edgy',  'moody', even 'vagarious'.  Yet the high-keyed brightness of the morning sunshine gives hope for a perfect day."
