"There is a certain romance surrounding old well-worn farm implements. This manure spreader has done its job for many decades. It's large metal wheels rolled over many acres in their day"

 
Artist comment:  "There is an old western tune entitled 'Wagon Wheels' that runs throgh my head when I see this painting. My inspiration was an ageing old rusty manure spreader on a local farm. I painted the background in an impressionistic manner, to allow me to focus in detail on the equipment itself. With gouache on watercolor paper, I finished the piece with attention to the warm tones in the background as well as the subject itself."
